Brian Silk finally releases his new album on Saturday 23rd of April 2022. It is called PURE JOY and features 10 new tracks, all penned by Brian.

Brian had thought the album might have been released as early as last June, but the relaxation of Covid restrictions meant that doing things that had not been possible for a long time became a priority. The final bits of recording were completed about a month ago, and mixing and mastering were finalised just under a week ago.

Speaking about why he chose PURE JOY as the title of the album, Brian said:

The album is called PURE JOY because it was pure joy to write and record. I abandoned any ideas of writing to please other people and just wrote songs to please myself. So every bit of every song is what I wanted, without any thoughts of ‘people might not like that’ or ‘maybe I should do something more appealing instead.’ That’s not to say that the music is not enjoyable to hopefully many people – I like tuneful songs and a strong beat and all the usual ingredients for enjoyable music.

PURE JOY is very much a product of Covid-19 and the ways we’ve all had to live with the impact of the pandemic.

Brian:

There are two ways in which PURE JOY is a product of Covid-19. Firstly, it was written and virtually all the music, except the vocals, recorded between January and April 2021, when the UK was in lockdown conditions, so I was able to devote a lot of my free time to it. Secondly, some of the lyrics reflect the mental health issues I’ve gone through with Covid-19 and its impact.

PURE JOY will be distributed by Ditto Music and available on all major music platforms.
